Kim Cattrall tells Psychologies America is ‘cruel’ to ageing women

Kim Cattrall speaks to Psychologies about why it is better to grow old gracefully.

Kim Cattrall knows how to grow old gracefully. Having been a star back in the ‘80s, she found fame again in the ‘90s as the infamous Samantha Jones in Sex and the City, where she had younger co-stars, yet she doesn’t seem to have aged since then.

Speaking to Psychologies in the latest issue, Cattrall says that she wishes to grow old gracefully as she’s not a “Barbie”, but says it is hard for women to age in America. She plays an ageing porn star in her new film ‘Meet Monica Valour’ for which she also had to gain weight.

"One of the reasons I made 'Meet Monica Velour' is because I've had enough of it,” she tells the magazine. “I'm not Barbie, I'm not made by Mattel, I'm flesh and blood and it melts you know - get used to it. I'm not going to turn myself into the Joker in 'Batman' to get jobs. It's hard getting older - especially for an attractive woman, because your looks are something that were on your side - but you need to put in perspective."
