Kim Cattrall speaks of her love of Physiyoga

Actress Kim Cattrall says Physiyoga has kept her healthy during her run in Sweet Bird of Youth in the West End.

Actress Kim Cattrall is best known for her role as Samantha Jones in Sex and the City but she can currently be seen treading the boards in London’s West End in play The Sweet Bird of Youth at the Old Vic.

But what’s kept her in shape is a new type of yoga named Physiyoga that was introduced to her by instructor over in New York and she tracked down London’s finest trainer Helen O’Neill to keep her on track.

“As I get older, I find that cardio is less important to me,” she tells The Times. “What I want to do more of is intense stretching. I'm not worried about injuring myself because a regular yoga instructor isn't versed in the way of the body like a trained physio is.”

Cattrall says O’Neill “saved her life” during the play's three month run as she's had a sore right knee, stiff sacrum and “bruises bigger than a professional snowboarder”.
