Josh Brolin talks about his gang and drugs past

Gangster Squad actor Josh Brolin talks about his past in a gang and on drugs.

The life of a child star can sometimes be a difficult one... just ask Drew Barrymore, Macauley Culkin and more recently, Lindsay Lohan. Actor Josh Brolin has confessed to having some of his own issues in the past.

Not only is he the son of Barbra Streisand and James Brolin, but he also forged a career for himself early on, starring in cult kids movie The Goonies.

It may come as no surprise to some that the actor joined a gang and turned to stealing and drugs when he was a teenager. Speaking to Men’s Journal, he says: "I stole a lot of radios from cars," the actor recalls. "I could pop the detail with a coat hanger real easy. I got very good at it. I can still do it today. I bought drums and drugs, what else was there?"

"I was the last [gang member] to get into heroin -- I smoked it -- and the first to get out. I was around 16 or 17, so it was around the time of The Goonies. But I liked working and learning, so it was very difficult for me to lend myself to that drug completely."

His gang experience obviously put him in good stead for his latest movie, Gangster Squad.
