J.K. Rowling used Robert Galbraith as pseudonym for latest book

J.K. Rowling has admitted to penning The Cuckoo's Calling under the pen name of Robert Galbraith.

Well, J.K. Rowling is a bit of a dark horse, isn’t she! It has just been revealed that the Harry Potter author is the real writer behind The Cuckoo’s Calling by the so-called Robert Galbraith.

The author used a pen name to release the book in order to gauge a genuine reaction to the book’s merit, rather than it being pre-judged or compared to Harry Potter.

After being outed by The Sunday Times, the blogosphere went crazy with speculation as to whether it really was written by Rowling. In a statement earlier today, J.K. Rowling admitted that she really was behind the novel.

She said: “I hoped to keep this secret a little longer, because being Robert Galbraith has been such a liberating experience! It has been wonderful to publish without hype or expectation and pure pleasure to get feedback from publishers and readers under a different name.

“The upside of being rumbled is that I can publicly thank my editor David Shelley, who has been a true partner in crime, all those people at Little, Brown who have been working so hard on ‘The Cuckoo’s Calling’ without realising that I wrote it, and the writers and reviewers, both in the newspapers and online, who have been so generous to the novel.

“And to those who have asked for a sequel, Robert fully intends to keep writing the series, although he will probably continue to turn down personal appearances.”
