Isla Fisher tells Cosmo how Sacha’s agent rejected her!

Isla Fisher speaks in Cosmopolitan's July issue about being rejected by husband Sacha Baron Cohen's agent and why you can't have it all.

We’re sure you’ll have been to see The Great Gatsby by now and because the film is so huge, everyone wants a piece of the fantastic cast – which is why the gorgeous Isla Fisher is on the cover of Cosmopolitan’s July issue.

Not only is the Australian a great actress, but she’s also a mother and wife to comedic actor Sacha Baron Cohen, who is famed for characters such as Ali G, Borat and Bruno. Her husband’s success hasn’t helped her get where she is today though.

“I really have had no help,” she tells Cosmo. “In fact, the one time I did ask for help was after my agent in L.A. fired me. I was auditioning for all sorts of things but kept getting told ‘no,’ so she just fired me! So anyway, I said to Sacha, who was my boyfriend at the time, ‘Can you ask your agent if they’ll represent me?’ And his agent said, ‘No way.’ It was the only favor I’d ever asked, and I was like, ‘OK… great.’ But it spurred me on.”

We know how difficult it can be to juggle a career, marriage and being a mother. Does she think it’s possible to have it all? No.

“It’s a myth that you can have it all,” she says. “You can’t. But, more importantly, I don’t think you should want to. It sounds exhausting! I’m just dipping my toe back into work now. It’s a juggling act and I’m not particularly good at it; the balls are in the air. But my priority is always my family. Motherhood boils everything down to the essentials.”
