Ghostbusters 3 'being written by Dan Ackroyd again'

If you're a fan of the Ghostbusters films and you've got a Vanity Fair magazine subscription, you might be interested to read Dan Ackroyd is writing the third film again.

Ghostbusters fans with a Vanity Fair magazine subscription may be interested to find out Dan Ackroyd is in charge of writing the script for the third film, yet again.

Working alongside Harold Ramis, the actor told the publication he's involved in the writing once more, presumably meaning the US Office writers Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg are off the case.

Bill Murray will probably be pleased with the news, since he's been fairly vocal about his dislike for the writers.

Diplomatically, Akroyd told Vanity Fair magazine: "I think he was reacting to the box office success and the general public view of the film, which in my view was a very serviceable comedy, and in the end I think they’ll make their money back."

He added: “I think he was concerned that the writing on Ghostbusters 3 by these guys would not be up to standard, but I can tell you firsthand, I’m working on the script now and those two wrote Bill the comic role of a lifetime. We have a strong first draft and I’m very excited about working on it."

The first Ghostbusters film came out in 1984, with the second instalment hitting screens in 1989.
