If you have a Woman & Home magazine subscription you should have received the August issue by now, which features the lovely Fern Britton on the cover.
Fern talks about her new book, The Holiday Home, which is a book about two feuding sisters. However, she says she doesn’t find writing particularly easy.
She also talks about her own sense of style. “I'm no slave to fashion, but I like to have fun,” she says. “I love bright colours, so I'm thrilled fluoros are back in style. Colour makes me smile. You can see it in my home too. It's like walking through a bazaar in Marrakech!”
Her weight has fluctuated over the years and she has been criticized for her weight loss methods and putting weight back on, but she no longer cares what people have to say about her or her wardrobe.
“People can judge me the way they wish because they play by the rules, but I don't want to,” she says. “It doesn't matter who you are and what age you are, you can wear what you bloody well want!”
She’s been with husband Phil Vickery for 13 years now, and can still recall how madly in love they were – and still are. “I love that feeling of falling in love,” she tells the magazine. “In the beginning, Phil and I were in that white-hot magnesium flare of passion. That obviously tempers, but our relationship has become much deeper. I can rely on him, he's my best friend and he's the person I want to spend my time with.”
