Exercise can help older Brits, says Saga magazine

Saga magazine subscription holders can read how exercise can help them.

Older Britons who have a Saga magazine subscription can read all about the benefits of exercise.

Emma Soames, editor at large for Saga magazine, said older people in the UK are thinking more and more about their health and diet.

"People are on the whole feeling very good in their 60s and they want to go on feeling good," she explained.

"You want to do everything you can to increase your chances of a longer, healthy life and exercise very much does that," the Saga magazine contributor added.

Not only does exercise boost your heart and lower cholesterol levels, it also reduces your chance of getting a chronic illness and improves mental health, Ms Soames said.

The editor at Saga magazine's comments came as a survey by Bupa revealed the over-60s are healthier than their younger counterparts.

Just over a fifth of those surveyed said they work out at least five times a week.
