Cher Lloyd was advised against her first tattoo

Cher Lloyd speaks to Inked about being advised against her first tattoo and why her new album is a bit of a risk.

At first glance, you wouldn’t necessarily think that Cher Lloyd was a big fan of tattoos, but speaking to Inked magazine the pop star confesses to having 19 in total.

She tells the magazine that she got her first – a treble clef on her hand – aged just 16 but was advised against it.

She says: "At the time the tattoo artist said to me that people wouldn't employ me because I had a tattoo on my hand, but I still did it, because I had this crazy thought in my head that I wasn't going to do anything but be a performer anyway."

Speaking about being a role model to her young fans, she said that she hoped her fans wouldn’t take the decision to get a tattoo lightly and that they would consult their parents before.

"It's up to an individual to choose when they want to get a tattoo," Lloyd explained. "If you're under the [legal] age [to get a tattoo] - you should discuss it with your parents like I did."

Cheryl Cole’s former protégée has had success over the pond with her debut album and discusses her next record: "I feel like I'm taking a risk this time around. [I'm] stepping away from the previous sound. I think it will be a bit of a shock for some people!"
