Benedict Cumberbatch talks to Reader's Digest

Benedict Cumberbatch talks about Paradise Island with Reader's Digest.

Recent reports have claimed that Benedict Cumberbatch - BBC's Sherlock Holmes and star of upcoming Downton-esque drama Parade's End - gets so much stick for being posh that he's considering moving over to the US to escape it. Boo hiss. We love Benedict!

If you have a Reader's Digest magazine subscription you'll have just received the September issue, which features the man himself on the cover.

Reader's Digest caught up with the actor whilst he was filming the new BBC drama which is already making headlines after it reportedly has two raunchy sex scenes within the first 6 minutes of the opening shot. Ooh la la!

Speaking about what drew him to the role, Cumberbatch says it was reading the book: "I was blown away by it. I still go back to it every day. Like most adaptations of books I've done - Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, for example - the book is the best background and bedrock for characterisation. Of course, it's heartbreaking as well, because you read a character with as many subtle shifts as Christopher and you think, 'I can't play that'. But then Tom [Stoppard] is very good at getting to the nub of it."

We're pretty excited to see it when it airs soon on BBC Two!
