If you consider yourself to be a bit of a history buff – and have a BBC History Magazine subscription to boot – then you may be pleased to hear that the increasingly popular History Weekend Festival is taking place in Malmesbury once again this year.

The line up has been announced and it looks set to be better than ever – with the likes of Liberal Democrat leader Lord Paddy Ashdown, Man Booker Prize winner Hilary Mantel, TV historian Dan Snow and author, broadcaster Earl Spencer in attendance.

An array of interesting topics will be covered, including the First World War, Britain’s Pagan heritage, terror and faith in Elizabethan England and witchcraft and propaganda during the English Civil War.

The event will run from Thursday 16th-Sunday 19th October and tickets – which are on sale now – can be bought at a discounted rate for subscribers. Tickets can be bought at www.historyweekend.com.

Dave Musgrove, Publisher of BBC History Magazine, commented: I am delighted that Malmesbury will once again play host to the BBC History Magazine History Weekend and our exceptional lineup of top-name historians and authors. Following overwhelming public demand for tickets for our inaugural festival, we are expanding the 2014 event with a new venue and talks starting on the Thursday evening. We look forward to welcoming our readers and history enthusiasts then.”
