10 Easy Trips with your Lonely Planet magazine subscription

If you want to get away in the next month, check out Lonely Planet magazine's 10 Easy Trips.

When you have a Lonely Planet magazine subscription, you’re always filled with fantastic travel ideas and will also be the first to know about the little gems that haven’t become tourist traps just yet.

Unfortunately we’re not all able to jet-set around the world, but our Lonely Planet magazine subscription always makes us want to!

If you’re already a subscriber, you’ll have just received Issue 34 (with the exclusive subscriber’s cover, of course). After whizzing through and wishing we could hop on to the plane and fly off to the Amalfi Coast, South America and the Australian Outback, we came across the 10 Easy Trips for October feature, proving you don’t always have to go to the other side of the world to get the most out of travelling.

Although the article does suggest visiting Saint Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow before the snow falls, hiking through the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan or overlooking Cannes in the peaceful Îles de Lérins, where the Man in the Iron Mask was said to be held captive, the majority of the locations are in the UK.

You can head to London for the London Restaurant festival (3rd-17th October), where you can visit the pop-up restaurant which will be appearing on the London Eye between 3rd and 6th October. You can dine on food cooked by some of the city’s most-celebrated chefs, whilst taking in the amazing views.

If that doesn’t float your boat you can head up North to York Minster for the Illuminating York festival or even further up to Crieff and Strathearn in Scotland for the Drovers’ Tryst Walking Festival, for a very different view.

Or if your heart belongs in the South why not make your way to East Harptree in Somerset to get your fill of cider and rent out a 2-roomed tree house or head to the coast at Falmouth for the Falmouth Oyster festival to soak up the crisp sea air.
