Real Homes magazine calls for readers to join in Earth Hour

If you've got a Real Homes magazine subscription, you might want to get involved in Earth Hour.

Real Homes magazine subscription holders are being urged by the publication to take part in this week's Earth Hour.

On Saturday March 26th - the day before daylight saving kicks in - the publication is calling for everyone to turn off their lights between 20:30 and 21:30 GMT.

"With the events of recent weeks across the world, the effect of climate change is becoming more and more apparent," Real Homes magazine said, which is why it is urging readers to embrace the cause.

Earth Hour began back in 2007, when 2,000 businesses in Sydney, Australia, turned off their lights for an hour.

More than 55 million people are expected to join in this year, across 128 countries around the world, reports Real Homes magazine.

The publication suggests: "Why not turn your lights off for one hour and have an evening of candlelight to help make a difference to the planet?"

According to Earth Hour's website, last year saw the biggest participation in the event.

"Iconic buildings and landmarks from Asia Pacific to Europe and Africa to the Americas switched off," it said.
