No doubt many of you will remember Heidi Withers, the bride-to-be who was sent an email by her future step-mother-in-law Carolyn Bourne which soon went viral and made headlines.
In the email, Bourne called Withers’ behaviour “staggering in its uncouthness and lack of grace” and that she would “be an ideal candidate for the Ladette to Lady television series”. She also said that Heidi and fiancé Freddie’s choice of a castle as the location for their reception was “brash, celebrity style behaviour”.
After the email, many considered Carolyn Bourne to be the mother-in-law from hell, whilst others wondered if perhaps Heidi’s behaviour had justified it - though those who know her claim that Heidi is a polite and friendly girl.
The couple finally tied the knot last weekend – of course, Freddie’s father and step-mother were not in attendance - but some interesting news for our Country Life magazine subscribers is that Heidi is featured in today’s issue, in the girls in pearls section, which has previously featured the likes of Princess Anne, Zara Phillips, the Duchess of Bedford and more recently, Kate Middleton. She’s in pretty good company for a “ladette”!
