Victoria Beckham on being a working mother

Victoria Beckham speaks to ELLE about her insecurities, career and being a tired mother.

She may be one of the most famous women on the planet, but Victoria Beckham admits to often feeling a little insecure and less liked than others.

Speaking to ELLE in the March issue, she says: “When I was on stage with the Spice Girls, I thought people were there to see the other four and not me. And when I go out with David and people take pictures I think, ‘They’re here to take David’s picture.’”

Regardless of her bandmates and husband, Victoria has made a successful career for herself in her own right, as a fashion designer. It doesn’t just happen though, Victoria explains that it’s been a hard graft, but it’s worth it. “I don’t have to work, I need to work. But I have a good work ethic. David has an incredible work ethic. I want my kids to have a good work ethic. I believe you can achieve anything if you work hard enough to get it.”

Of course, she’s not superwoman and says it can be tough being half of the Beckhams, fashion designer and mother of four. “I’m not going to lie about it, I’m tired,” she says. “I’m really tired but I’m also very happy with my life. I’m basically just like any woman who’s working and has lots of children - it’s tough. I’m not getting much sleep at all. Harper’s not sleeping that great, and I’ve been taking Skype business calls throughout the night too because of the collections.”
