Turning off your TV, computer and mobile phone before getting under the covers could help you out if you sometime struggle to drop off, according to the publication.
"Technology has invaded the bedroom," warns Dr Charles Czeisler from Harvard Medical School, who carried out a study on the effects tech can have on sleep patterns.
He added: "Light exposure between dusk and the time we go to bed suppresses release of the sleep-promoting hormone melatonin, enhances alertness and shifts normal sleep patterns to a later hour," reports Marie Claire magazine.
A recent study by the Economic and Social Research Council revealed one in eight Britons fail to get a full six hours' sleep every night, which could possibly be changed if people alter their bedroom habits and turn off monitors before bed.
