An expert has told Zest magazine subscription holders how they can beat headaches.
According to Dr Patrick Milroy, there are "countless causes" of the ailment and they can be "involved in almost any condition", making it sometimes difficult to diagnose them.
"Stress, tiredness and dehydration are prime suspects. If you often suffer, keep a diary of symptoms for a few months," he told Zest magazine.
He added that it is important to keep a record of when "the pain starts, how long it lasts and other factors, such as what you've been doing".
Posture, sinuses and hormones can all play a part in headaches, Dr Milroy said.
He also has some advice if you're looking for ways to cure them. Try rehydrating yourself first. If that doesn't work, try painkillers such as ibuprofen or paracetamol.
"Just take care not to overuse them and be aware that codeine-based painkillers can be addictive," the doctor added.
According to the NHS, tension-type headaches affect more than 40 per cent of the UK population at any one time.
