Snacking 'could pose threat to new year diet plans'

If you're looking to lose weight and you've got a Marie Claire magazine subscription you might be interested to find out what not to do.

Fashion-conscious women who have a Marie Claire magazine subscription might be surprised to hear snacking could jeopardise their efforts to lose weight in 2011.

According to a new study, one in seven Brits will eat around five or more salty or sugary snacks every day, Marie Claire magazine reported.

Over the coming year, that will amount to a whopping 1,092 high-fat or high-sugar snacks, the study, commissioned by Hovis, revealed.

People will snack less if they consume a wholesome breakfast, Hovis said.

More than half (64 per cent) of the women polled said they felt fuller for even longer if they ate wholemeal bread for brekkie, reports Marie Claire magazine.

Also in Marie Claire magazine, you can read how stress is likely to affect the majority of Brits this year.

Even though we're only in the second week of 2011, Brits are already stressed out, according to a survey by the Stroke Association.
