Michelle Dockery has one of the most recognized faces around the world now, thanks to her role in period drama Downton Abbey, which has been a huge hit all over the world.
The actress is the cover star of Harper’s Bazaar’s August issue and has confessed that she could quite happily play Lady Mary Crawley forever.
"There's a part of me that doesn't want it to end, because I love it so much," she says. "And once it's all over, I'm sure there will be a period when I feel slightly at a loss."
She adds: "It's like this love affair that I have with my job."
Viewers were shocked at Christmas when her on-screen husband Matthew Crawley (played by Dan Stevens) was killed off after a long will-they-won’t-they storyline that finally saw them happy with a new baby.
Dockery admits that she "was in floods of tears" reading the script, though she does believe that Matthew’s death may have "opened a door of opportunity for Mary".
When it comes to getting a little big-headed due to the show's success, she seems confident that she'll stay grounded. "It's very easy in this business to take things a little too seriously or yourself too seriously, and I grew up learning how to laugh at myself."
