Lily Collins talks style and Mortal Instruments with Seventeen

Lily Collins talks to Seventeen magazine about her developing style, Mortal Instruments and why she's happy to be compared to Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Lawrence.

Up until now Lily Collins is probably best known as being the daughter of Phil Collins and Jill Tavelman, with a few acting and modeling jobs along the way but with the release of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones imminent, we have a feeling her fame is about to skyrocket.

Speaking to Seventeen magazine in their latest issue, Collins speaks about how she has come into her own recently, especially when it comes to her style.

“I’ve definitely edged-up my style a little but not for any reason other than I’m experimenting with myself,” she says. “I always wanted tattoos, so this past November, I got two. I got my back done first its my handwriting and it says, Love always and forever.”

Of course, being the female protagonist in the movie adaptations of a hugely successful series of books, people are bound to draw comparisons to the likes of Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Lawrence. Rather than being irritated by it, though, Lily says she draws inspiration from them.

“I admire how they’ve both handled the fame that came with those roles and their ability to step outside those roles and do other projects,” she tells the magazine. “That’s what I want to do balance fun big movies with gritty passion projects I love.”
