Kirsten Dunst talks growing up with Elle magazine in the September issue

Kirsten Dunst is Elle's September cover girl. She talks life, love and growing up.

We all know Kirsten Dunst. She’s the pretty, little, blonde girl who started out as a child actress in movies such as Jumanji and Interview with the Vampire before growing up to star in the Spider-Man franchise, the critically-acclaimed The Virgin Suicides and countless others.

She was one of the lucky few who successfully made the transition from child actor to just actor, which the likes of Macauley Culkin, Anna Chlumsky and Haley Joel-Osment never quite managed.

So when Elle magazine’s September issue – which every fashionista knows is the most important issue of the year – came through our letterbox, we were pleased to see the actress gracing the cover, as she’s been off the radar for a while.

As well as her films, Dunst has always made headlines in other areas of her life. She's had a string of A-list boyfriends any young Hollywood actress would be envious of (hello Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey McGuire, Jeff Smeenge and Johnny Borrell), as well as being the face of fashion brands Miu Miu and Bulgari.

Dunst is returning back to our screens after taking a couple of years out following her split with Borrell and a stint in rehab. In her new film, Melancholia, Kirsten plays a woman suffering from severe depression – which is something she can relate to. The film won her the best actress award at the Cannes film festival earlier this year.

The actress claims that she has undergone a transformation over the past few years. She says: “I’m much happier, more sure, more definite. Who you are at 25 and who you are at 29 is a very different thing. For me it feels like a 20-year age gap. You live, you learn and you come through the drama to a more easy, relaxed perspective.”
