Jennifer Lawrence tells ELLE USA she’s considered fat in Hollywood

Jennifer Lawrence talks about being "fat" and her boyfriend with ELLE USA.

She plays Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games but actress Jennifer Lawrence refuses to go hungry herself, she tells ELLE USA in their December issue.

Hollywood is well known for its culture of thin actresses, desperate not to let the 10-lb-adding cameras make them look even remote chubby. However, Lawrence doesn’t give in to pressure over her size.

“In Hollywood, I’m obese. I’m considered a fat actress,” she says. “I’m Val Kilmer in that one picture on the beach. I eat like a caveman. I’ll be the only actress who doesn’t have anorexia rumors.”

The actress decided not to lose weight for the role of Katniss, aware of her audience. “I don’t want little girls to be like, ‘Oh, I want to look like Katniss, so I’m going to skip dinner’. That’s something that I was really conscious of during training, when you’re trying to get your body to look exactly right. I was trying to get my body to look fit and strong, not thin and underfed.”

She’s not doing too badly for a “fat” actress though, considering she’s dating Skins hottie Nicholas Hoult – and she seems pretty happy in her relationship. She says: “[My boyfriend] is honestly my best friend, and hopefully I’m his best friend too. He’s my favorite person to be around and makes me laugh harder than anybody. We can eat Cheetos and watch beach volleyball and we turn into two perverted Homer Simpsons, like, ‘Oh, she’s got a nice ass’. I never thought we’d have such different opinions on asses.”
