Elle Fanning chooses acting over hobbies

Elle Fanning talks to Miss Vogue Australia about her acting aspirations as a child and choosing acting over soccer.

If you have a Vogue Australia magazine subscription you may have heard about its new sister publication – Miss Vogue Australia, which is aimed at teens who love fashion.

This issue’s cover star is Elle Fanning, who has stepped out of older sister Dakota’s shadow to make a name for herself as not only a great actress but also quite the style icon.

Fanning confesses that she has always loved acting and that’s why her parents allowed her to follow her dream. "I guess my mom saw us playing around the house and creating these really in-depth characters,” she tells the magazine. “My sister was older so she would always be the mom and I would be her kid. We would pretend we were homeless people and move around the house as though we were looking for shelter – we would always end up in the pantry. My parents would be like, ‘What are they doing in the pantry?’ and we’d be shivering, completely in character."

Since her career has kicked off she has worked with a whole list of well-known names, including Angelina Jolie. She says of the actress: "The way she treated everyone was so ‘normal’ – ah ‘normal’ is such a bad word, but you know? She was just every day."

Despite being so young, she tells Miss Vogue that she wouldn’t change anything about her career. “Some kids go to soccer practice and play games after school, I just do movies."
