Cosmopolitan magazine is usually clued up on fashion choice and has made a few predictions of what will be big in workwear during 2010.

The publication pointed to the designs of Phoebe Philo, who is responsible for the clothing label Celine, as being influential for the spring/summer season.

Cosmopolitan fashion director Shelly Vella explained that she is "looking forward" to seeing how Philo's work impacts the industry.

She said that it had already had a "profound effect" on other designers, as well as the high street, with a combination of smart and sophisticated style that is ideal for the workplace.

"There are a lot of pinafore and shirtdress type options, you can either layer those up - that was a big look from Phoebe Philo at Celine - she did the quite simple little pinafore pieces," Ms Vella noted.
The expert added that the shirtdress is a particular favourite and can be useful for work as long as it is not made from cotton that creases easily.

Another trend to look out for is harem pants, which are smart, yet comfortable enough to wear throughout the hot summer that has been predicted by Positive Weather Solutions - the firm that out-forecast the Met Office by correctly foreseeing the Big Freeze this winter.
