Chloe Moretz on the trials and tribulations of falling in love

Chloe Moretz talks about the problem with meeting someone when you're famous and how her parents' break up has affected her.

Chloe Moretz may be young but she’s been in the movie business a long time and it seems the girl has got her head screwed on straight.

Rather than going out and doing something she’ll regret with another boy, she’s considering what being in the limelight might mean for her love life.

Speaking to InStyle in their August issue, she admits that she second-guesses people who show an interest in her. “You think, ‘Who’s out to deceive me?’ That’s hard,” she says. “Especially growing up and liking guys and, maybe, ‘Do you want to be in a relationship? Is this person trying to be in my life because I’m famous?’ You can’t just like someone. They might be using you. I talk to Julianne [Moore, her co-star in Carrie] about it and she says, ‘Look, just be careful. Trust your judgement but don’t get in too deep sometimes.’ Because, you know, when you’re young, you fall in love and don’t know it’s happening.”

It may not come as a surprise to know that she’s so wary considering her parents have recently split and her mother has been battling cancer.

“It made me realise, along with everything that happened with my dad, that your parents aren’t these godly figures,” she tells the mag. “They’re not chosen by the heavens. They’re humans. Their bodies can fail and they can die at any moment. They make mistakes. They cry. They fight. It definitely, from a young age, put everything into perspective for me.”
