The 25-year-old said she thought her dermatologist was kidding when he proposed the procedure.
She told Elle magazine: ""I said, 'I have some lines here under my eye and they're annoying, what can you do?' He looked at my face and said, 'We'll just drop some Botox in here and here'.
"I said, 'What the f***? I'm only 25, are you joking?' So I can't move my face? Isn't that, well, the antithesis of what I'm trying to do as an actress?"
The actress, who's famed for her roles in flicks including An Education, said it could only happen in LA.
Carey is very much a rising star in the world of Hollywood, with a string of big award nominations and awards under her belt already.
Her role in An Education nabbed her an Oscar nomination for Best Performance, while she scooped a Bafta this year for the same part.
