149 - Poor quality hair products could cause it to age quicker

Women may want to be more careful when it comes to putting products on their hair.

Women who expose their hair to large amounts of sun or who use poor quality products in order to get a desired look could witness their hair ageing at a faster pace than the rest of their body, it has been suggested.

Elle Magazine has been quick to point out that just because a person is young in terms of age, this does not guarantee this to be the case with their hair.

There are a number of factors that can be responsible for the speeding up of the hair ageing process, some of which have been pointed out by Trichologist Tony Maleedy of Avia Hair LTD.

He explained to the magazine: "Sun exposure, colouring, chlorine pollution, heat styling and poor quality hair products make the hair dry, brittle and weak."

Meanwhile, it is not only self-imposed factors that affect hair age, with hormonal changes also resulting in the slowing of scalp activity.

Lily Allen is the cover star on the latest edition of Elle Magazine and she speaks about the reasons behind her decision to leave her microphone behind to move into the fashion world.
