We Need To Talk About Kevin wins the best movie award at the BFI Film Festival London Awards.

Today’s the last day of the BFI London Film Festival, which those of you with a Sight and Sound magazine subscription will already be well aware of.

The BFI Film Festival has been running since 12th October and their annual awards were held last night, at St. Luke’s church in central London.

The biggest winner of the evening was We Need To Talk About Kevin, the critically-acclaimed film from director Lynne Ramsey. The movie is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Lionel Shriver, which tells the story of the strained relationship between a mother and her son who has committed a terrible crime. The film won the award for Best Movie.

Other winners of the awards include actress Candese Reid who won Best British Newcomer for her role in Junkhearts, Werner Herzog who won the award for Best Documentary for Into the Abyss and Pablo Giorgelli whose debut film, Las Acacias won the award for Best First Feature.
