TV lacks good roles for older women, says leading Brit actress

If you've got a Radio Times magazine subscription, you can read one actress's views on TV roles.

TV lovers who have a Radio Times magazine subscription will be able to read an interview with one of Britain's leading actresses.

Spooks star Hermione Norris told Radio Times magazine that older women in the acting world aren't given good roles on the small screen.

When you get to my age, the conversations women have - the preoccupations, the frustrations, the grief - are never represented," the actress told Radio Times magazine.

She went on to criticise hit US TV series Sex and the City, branding it "insulting".

Hermione said it is all about women "clawing onto their youth when there's such ripe territory in honestly exploring women's lives as they get older".

The British actress shot to fame playing the role of Karen in the long-running drama Cold Feet.

Most recently, Hermione appeared in BBC's Spooks, playing MI5 agent Ros Myers. She left the show in 2009, after completing four series of the show.
