If you’re a big One Direction fan chances are you’ve probably never even heard of The Clash (not that we're making assumptions, of course), but many who have heard the boys’ new single Live While We’re Young have accused 1D of ripping of The Clash’s famous hit Should I Stay or Should I Go.
NME have reported how Twitter has been full of ranting from users who are annoyed at how similar the new song’s opening is to the old classic. One person tweeted: “Oh no. One Direction have nicked the intro to Should I Stay Or Should I Go by the Clash. Sacrilege.”
Seeing as the song wasn’t actually written by the One Direction boys, we’re sure they’ll just be able to shrug the insults off – after all, it’s not like they’re strangers to a bit of controversy after their battle with another band of the same name, as well as the relationship antics of Harry Styles.
Though if the boys have taken any of it to heart, we’re sure that the reported £100million they’ve made over the past two years will ease the pain a little.
