My Chemical Romance took home the best video and best international band gongs at the NME magazine awards, while Muse were named best British group for the second year in a row.

Brit star Laura Marling picked up the NME magazine accolade for best solo artist and the Hurts bagged the best new band prize.

Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl picked up the Godlike Genius prize at the NME magazine awards.

The singer dedicated his accolade to the late Kurt Cobain, who used to front his previous band.

"This one's for Kurt, thank you very much," Grohl said when he was given the gong by The Who's Roger Daltrey.

NME magazine editor Krissi Murison called Grohl "one of the most important rock stars alive today".

The awards ceremony took place at London's O2 Brixton Academy.
