Kings of Leon talk about their comeback with Q

Q magazine caught up with Kings of Leon before their tour to discuss their hiatus and eventual comeback.

We’re sure those of you with a Q magazine subscription will know that Kings of Leon have been around for years – and we mean YEARS – but it wasn’t until Sex on Fire was released in 2008 that the whole world realised what an amazing band they really are. After that, things just exploded for them.

After stopping their last tour early, Q magazine caught up with the boys back in May, just before their current tour kicked off when they were making the most of their free, alone time.

How does Caleb enjoy his last day of freedom? By heading over to Giovanni’s, his favourite Italian in Nashville and that’s what he did after the last tour was cancelled to clear his head.

“Time at Giovanni’s with JD, or at home with my wife, or walking down the West Side Highway in New York alone to play mini golf… man, that was all the therapy I needed,” he says. “That’s how I got my head straight. Doing normal s**t. And there’s nothing more normal than eating at a time you choose in a place you choose with whoever choose.”

To say that this is a comeback for Kings of Leon wouldn’t be totally wrong. After all, when they cancelled their tour and went on hiatus, the music world feared they’d be gone for good.

“It’s like, your body. Run it too hard, you get sick. Most people saw it as the end. We saw it as a fresh start. If that was what it took for us to take 10 months off, then so be it. I honestly believe that if we’d finished that tour we wouldn’t have made another record,” says Nathan.

If you want to read about how the band finally made their new album, you’ll have to get your hands on a copy of the October issue!
