Attention all Doctor Who Adventures magazine subscribers out there! After years of rumours circulating, according to Variety it has now been confirmed by director David Yates that the TV series will finally be turned into a movie.
He is working with head of LA’s head of BBC Worldwide productions, Jane Tranter, on developing the film, which he thinks will take them around 3 years to get perfect.
“We're looking at writers now. We're going to spend two or three years getting it right. It needs quite a radical transformation to take it into a bigger arena. The notion of a time-travelling Timelord is such a strong one, because you can express story and drama in any dimension or time,” says Yates, who directed the last four Harry Potter films.
However, he added that the film would not necessarily be similar to the current series. “Russell T Davies and then Steven Moffat have done their own transformations, which were fantastic, but we have to put that aside and start from scratch."
