Extreme climbing culture featured in National Geographic

People with a National Geographic magazine subscription can read all about the 'super climbers' taking on cliffs in Yosemite National Park in the US.

Daredevils with a National Geographic magazine subscription can read all about the brave men and women who are taking climbing to a whole new level.

The latest issue of the publication features an article on the 'super climbers' in Yosemite who are taking on the region's challenging cliff faces, including the famed El Capitan, Cathedral Rocks and Half Dome.

According to the magazine, the thousands of climbers who head to Yosemite each year "still represent the beating heart of the valley", with each visitor having a particular route they want to take on, while more experienced climbers try out new climbs of their own design.

As well as interviews with some of the climbers, the May issue of National Geographic also features stunning photographs by Jimmy Chin which really show the extent of the challenges that some climbers take on.

The latest issue of the magazine also features an article about the future of the Great Barrier Reef and an examination of what Bangladesh can teach the rest of the world about coping with rising sea levels and overcrowding.
