DC Thomson invest £500,00 into 110% Gaming magazine launch!

Publishers DC Thomson have announced the launch of 110% Gaming magazine in October - and have invested £500,000!

DC Thomson, who publish magazines such as Beano and The People’s Friend, are s confident that magazines are here to stay that they have invested £500,000 into their latest gaming magazine, 110% Gaming.

The magazine will launch in October and will target younger gamers who have a variety of devices at their fingertips, be it tablets, laptops or games consoles. The magazine is being backed by companies such as EA, Sony and Warner Bros.

DC Thomson’s Head of Publishing says: “We identified a group that is ultimately the eight to 12-year-old age range, who have access at home to many devices – a tablet and laptop, plus a games console. But more often than not they have a console passed down from their parents, usually their dad.”

Speaking of the “print is dead” debate, O’Brien remains confident that the magazine will do well and believes that targeting young readers is key. “The Beano, which is 76 years old now, sells 32,000 copies a week. Our WWE Kids sells over 30,000 copies a month,” he says. “Look further than our titles and you see titles like the Moshi Monsters magazine are still selling well, and that was spun off from an online property. So we see and know the demand is there.”
