BBC launch 5 new HD channels

The BBC have announced that they will be launching 5 new BBC HD channels in early 2014.

For those who have HD television sets and pay extra fees for television packages especially to get High Definition channels, it can be annoying when there isn’t an HD option available. We’re sure those of you TV technology buffs with a What Satellite and TV magazine subscription would agree.

However, that won’t be a problem for BBC viewers for much longer as they have just announced that they are launching five new HD channels by early 2014.

There will soon be HD versions of BBC News, BBC Three, BBC Four, CBeebies and CBBC – the most popular BBC channels (other than One and Two, of course!).

Unlike many other HD channels, they will also be available to freeview viewers, as well as those who have satellite and cable.

The BBC’s director general Tony Hall said: "BBC One HD and BBC Two HD have already proved to be highly valued by our audiences and I'm delighted that we're able to follow this with the launch of five new subscription-free BBC HD channels by early 2014. These new channels will allow us to showcase more of our programming at its very best."
