More magazine has suggested that women still want all the traditional things, but just in a different order from what they did ten years ago.

According to editor Chantelle Horton, females in the UK now want marriage and children before success in their career - the opposite of what was true a decade ago.

The magazine commissioned the marriage and wedding survey 2010 and discovered that what women want out of life is changing.

"Young women today are also much more traditional and romantic than many people may think," Ms Horton said.

She added that while they still "want to look hot, party with their mates and live life to the full", they go out in the hope of meeting the man who they will "eventually settle down and live happily ever after with".

The survey found that the majority (78 per cent) of young women dream of marriage, with the typical response being that they would like to tie the knot by the age of 26.

Ms Horton explained that people's views on marriage are likely to be more influenced by their upbringing than what they read in the celebrity gossip pages.
