Total Film charts Cameron Diaz's rise to stardom

From The Mask in 1994 to her most recent role in Knight and Day, Total Film magazine has highlighted the unstoppable rise of blonde bombshell Cameron Diaz.

Cameron Diaz's meteoric rise to stardom began with her completely unsubtle entry into a bank in Jim Carrey movie The Mask 16 years ago, people with a Total Film subscription have learned.

Moving on through low-budget flick The Last Supper and grimy movie Minnesota in 1996 to starring opposite Harvey Keitel in farce Head Over Water, she appeared in many smaller movies before her big break.

Hitting the public consciousness with her A-list role in There's Something About Mary, this was one of her first tastes of mainstream public appeal.

"Cameron showed that she could do funny with the gorgeous, standing her ground against the comedic cast, and the film became an enormous success at the box office," Total Film magazine claimed.

This opened the doors for major roles including Being John Malkovich, Charlie's Angels, Shrek and Gangs of New York, for which she is best known.

In other news, Total Film has ranked star Tom Cruise's best and worst movie moments, finding that Top Gun was one of the actor's best flicks while 1983 movie All The Right Moves rates as one of his worst.
