Strangers 'want to dance with Ann Widdecombe'

Ann Widdecombe has told Radio Times magazine subscription holders that people now approach her to ask to dance with her.

Any Strictly Come Dancing fans with a Radio Times magazine subscription will be able to read an interview with clumsy contestant Ann Widdecombe.

The former MP, who's penned a few books recently, has become an unlikely favourite on the show with the public regularly keeping her in the reality TV show.

Ann told Radio Times magazine: "I'm used to requests for autographs and photographs, but now I'm always being asked to dance with strangers in the streets. Anton looks on critically and I'm sure he's dying to say: 'Stand up straight. Tuck in your posterior. Oh, you are letting me down. One, two, three, threeee not four, threeeeeee...'"

The not-so-elegant dancer said she hopes to stay on the programme for a bit longer.

"My next goal is to survive another two eliminations and go to Blackpool, once the scene of so many political antics at party conferences. It would be wonderfully funny to return and attempt a very different collection of smart moves and neat footwork," she added.

Ann has come under pressure to quit following dismal scores on the show but she has insisted she'll stay for as long as the public want her.
