Prince Harry visits minefield

Prince Harry has visited a Mozambique minefield to help promote a charity hoping to rid the country of mines.

Prince Harry recently echoed the movements of his mother by visiting a minefield, Hello magazine has reported.

According to the publication, the 25-year-old royal visited a site in Mozambique where the charity Halo is clearing landmines.

His mother, the Princess of Wales, visited one of the organisation's sites in Angola eight months before her tragic death.

Both visits were aimed at gaining a greater understanding of the work of the charity and boosting the profile of its work.

Halo hopes to have cleared Mozambique of mines in the next four or five years and Harry even played his part by carrying out a controlled explosion during his visit.

"One of the de-miners had found a mine and cleared the edge of it and Harry placed a small charge against the side of the mine," explained Halo chief executive Guy Willoughby.

He added that he was moved by the prince's meeting with a man who had lost both eyes and an arm after a landmine exploded close to him.

Harry reportedly held the man's remaining hand for five minutes while he talked with him - something that Mr Willoughby noted would not come naturally to most.

The young prince's mother Diana was killed in a car accident in Paris, France.

Meanwhile, Hello recently reported that Cheryl Cole has returned from a trip to Tanzania with dancer Derek Hough.
