Woman's Own magazine has published an article telling slimmers that there is no need to ditch the things they love in order to lose weight.
The publication spoke to nutritionist Monica Grenfell, who claimed that indulging in a little chocolate or wine should not be taboo for dieters.
Conversely, these foods can be actually be healthier than many diet foods, she explained.
"The good news is you can eat chocolate and have a tipple every day, and they are healthier than many diet foods, such as low-calorie cereal bars and low-fat crisps," the expert said.
Chocolate contains theobromine which is thought to soothe the nerves, while nut chocolate also provides proteins and vitamins B and E.
Dark chocolate's high copper concentration should also help avoid hard disease, while red wine is good for warding off blood clots and strokes.
Even white wine can be beneficial, as it contains heart-protecting HDL cholesterol and helps kill bacteria.
The magazine recently published advice on how to shape up legs in time for summer.
