Lea Michele’s rep asks for privacy after Cory Monteith’s shock death

Lea Michele's rep has asked that the actress be given privacy after it was announced that boyfriend Cory Monteith had been found dead aged just 31.

After the shocking announcement on Saturday evening that Glee actor Cory Monteith was found dead in a hotel room in Vancouver at the young age of 31, tributes have poured out from fans, cast and well-wishers.

The actor had been dating his co-star Lea Michele for more than a year and many messages of support have gone out to the actress since the news broke.

Whilst Lea hasn’t made any statement, her rep told People magazine yesterday: “We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea’s privacy during this devastating time”.

Many of Monteith’s Glee cast mates and Crew took to Twitter to express their sadness.

Director Adam Shankman said: “Goodbye my amazing and beautiful friend. The lights in my world just grew dimmer. The world just lost one of our best. I love u so much…”

Whilst Mark Salling (Puck) simply wrote “no”.

The cause of death has still not been confirmed, with speculation that it may be related to the substance abuse for which Monteith checked himself into rehab for back in April.

We feel for Cory’s friends, family and fans during this terribly sad time and hope they are allowed the time and space to grieve in private.
