Karate Kid sequel gets new writers

Film buffs with an Empire magazine subscription might want to check out an article about the new writers who'll be working on the sequel to the Karate Kid.

Film aficionados who've got an Empire magazine subscription can find out which new writers will be working on the Karate Kid sequel.

Cyrus Voris and Ethan Reiff, the guys responsible for the Kung Fu Panda script, are set to write the sequel for the popular film.

The pair also wrote the screenplays for Ridley Scott's Robin Hood and the TV show Sleeper Cell, reports Empire magazine.

"So basically it'll be just like Kung Fu Panda, only with fewer animals and fewer jokes", according to the publication.

As yet, there's no further news on where the sequel will be set, or whether it will change location, which is what happened in the original Karate Kid 2.

The film's been pencilled in tentatively for release in 2013.

This July, the remake of Karate Kid was released in the UK.

It stars Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith's son Jaden in the role of Dre Parker.

Legendary martial arts expert Jackie Chan was in the film alongside the youngster.
