Is DiCaprio Hollywood's new golden boy?

Empire questions whether Leonardo DiCaprio is the new king of Hollywood having starred in a string of both blockbusters and critically-acclaimed flicks.

With latest flick Inception under his belt, Empire magazine has questioned whether or not actor Leonardo DiCaprio could be the new King of Hollywood.

Helen O'Hara, writing for the magazine, has compared the Titanic star to Tom Cruise and asked whether or not this is truly fair.

With a string of popular movies in which DiCaprio has shone, many commentators have been praising the Revolutionary Road actor as the next big thing but she asks whether or not this is really the case.

Ms O'Hara points out that he has focused himself primarily on roles involving serious and haunted individuals rather than Cruise staples such as young, angry characters.

She said: "It's hard to imagine [DiCaprio] in a franchise of any sort - he seems more to model himself on a Sean Penn, or better yet one of the '70s crop of stars, than an '80s star like Cruise."

Last month, Empire magazine revealed that Brad Pitt has been confirmed as the lead character in a remake of Max Brooks flick World War Z.
