Jeff Bridges may have scooped an Academy Award for his role in Crazy Heart, but even this was not enough to earn a five star rating from Radio Times.

The magazine awarded the flick four out of five stars, but praised the contradiction of Bridges' "modest" yet "jokingly brash" performance.

The actor plays a failing country and western star named Bad Blake who battles between his love for a young journalist and his alcoholism.

While Radio Times feels that Bridges is adept at singing the blues and at times helps to revive a 'creaking' script, it suggested that Colin Farrell was "miscast".

The Irishman played Bad Blake's young protege - the renowned Tommy Sweet - but failed to capture the imagination with his performance, according to the publication.

Those heading to the cinema may be more inclined to pay the entrance fee for Micmacs, on which the magazine bestowed five stars.

Meanwhile TV fans will today (March 30th) be given a treat on Sky Movies, which is showing the classic Who Framed Roger Rabbit - another five-star movie according to Radio Times.
