Courteeners' singer previews new songs

The Courteeners singer Liam Fray has played three new songs at the Salford Lads Club - NME magazine has all the details.

Courteeners singer Liam Fray played a mammoth solo set at the famed venue the Salford Lads Club yesterday (August 18th), reports NME magazine.

Those with an NME magazine subscription can find out all about the gig at the venue, outside which The Smiths were famously photographed.

During the set, the frontman played some new songs for the XFM crowd, including It'll Take More Than a Weekend Away to Fix This Mess and Sunflower.

He also played the first live performance of a track named Push Yourself at the gig.

Fray played a number of different songs by some of Manchester's best-loved bands at the gig, kicking it off by singing the chorus of The Smiths' William, It Was Really Nothing.

Later in the show, he added in the introduction to Elbow's song Starlings mixed in with The Good Times Are Calling, as well as splicing things up with some Morrissey songs too.
