The Sunday Times Rich List 2012 has been released – who’s topped it?

Be sure to check out The Sunday Times Rich List 2012!

It’s a week of lists – yesterday we told you about TIME’s Top 100 Most Influential People and now it’s The Sunday Times’ Rich List 2012’s turn. Let’s face it, we’re all quite nosy and are desperate to know who these lists contain...

The list has been compiled by Philip Beresford and will be published in a 104-page magazine featuring 1,000 of the richest people/families in Britain and 250 in Ireland. That’s more than enough to keep us busy we think.

At number one this year are the Barclay twins – Sir David and Sir Frederick who aged 77 have quite an empire built up; not only do they own The Telegraph Group making them one of the country’s richest newspaper proprietors but they also own the Ritz hotel in London AND Littlewoods mail order company – talk about having your fingers in lots of different pies. You can see why they have a £2.25billion fortune can’t you?

Coming in at number two is Richard Desmond who owns Northern and Shell – who publish the likes of OK!, New and Star magazines as well as Express Newspapers – and Channel 5. He has an estimated worth of £1billion.

If you want to find out the rest of the list, then keep your eyes peeled for the Rich List with your copy of The Sunday Times!
