President Obama has now been officially inaugurated into his second term as president of the Unites States. Last night thousands of people flocked to the National Mall in Washington to watch the ceremony take place – as we’re sure those of you with a subscription to The Atlantic magazine will already know.
Former presidents Bill Clinton were there to watch the Inauguration, along with many other US dignatories.
History was made as the first openly gay, Hispanic (and youngest) poet, Richard Blanco to read at the ceremony and performances were given by Kelly Clarkson who sang My Country, ‘Tis of Thee and Beyonce, who sang the national anthem (though many have been outraged to discover that she actually mimed).
