New bill could prevent resale of charity tickets for profit

Anyone with a Third Sector magazine subscription can read about a new Bill which parliament could introduce could prevent ticket resale.

If you're interested in charity news and you've got a Third Sector magazine subscription, you'll be able to read about a new bill set to be put forward in parliament to prevent the resale of concert tickets for large profit.

Labour's Sharon Hodgson is introducing the bill, which will see a ten per cent cap put on resale profit.

This would help reduce the number of touts cashing in on resale of tickets, including those for charity concerts, reports Third Sector magazine.

Ms Hodgson said tickets for concerts organised by charities such as the Teenage Cancer Trust and Help for Heroes had been bought up and sold on at massive profit to the sellers; however, artists had given their time free of charge to help raise money and awareness for a good cause.

Quite surprisingly, one MP actually took umbrage at the bill, claiming charities are to blame if they sell their tickets at below-market prices.

The debate surrounding the bill has been adjourned until May 13th, reports Third Sector magazine.

Ms Hodgson is the MP for the Washington and Sunderland West constituency. She is calling for everyone to raise awareness of the bill in a bid to boost support for it.
