Britain's most admired companies revealed

Management Today magazine subscription holders can read which companies have been named the most admired in Britain.

Anyone interested in business issues who has a Management Today magazine subscription can read which companies have been named the most admired in 2010.

Claridges played host to the Management Today magazine Britain's Most Admired Companies Awards 2010, which saw Unilever, Serco and Shell take home prizes.

The audience defied the snow to go to the event, which saw chief executives of many of the UK's most prominent companies in the UK attend.

This is the first year Unilever has netted one of the Management Today magazine awards, despite featuring in the top six on no fewer than nine previous occasions.

Its consistency, coupled with its green credentials, helped it nab the accolade this year.

Unilever recently announced it plans to source all its agricultural materials from sustainable sources by 2020.

Second prize went to Serco, which has risen from "relative obscurity", according to Management Today magazine.

And coming in third place was Shell, a former winner of the accolade, which made it back into the coveted top five again this year.
